While over the last 25 years I have focused a great deal on visual storytelling, my academic and professional career started out on a parallel track with the written word. I had the fortune to cover stories for For A Change magazine published in London. It was storytelling that took me to Chicago, Richmond, Washington, DC and NYC to Rikers Island for feature stories and profiles. I went on to contribute a chapter to a book published by The University of Michigan Press and edit a community dialogue guide. Today the words keep coming, but most often I pair them with images to bring them to life and stir a response.
