My father's camera was one of the earliest "adult" things I can remember holding in my hands and learning how to use. My mother's love of people and keen ability to make any moment special broadened my horizons at an early age.
From my first childhood camera through today's digital age, my work continues to reflect my passion for photographing people of every generation and the places that make each corner of our communities and the world at large unique. In both black and white and color, I find fresh ways to capture the familiar. I shoot in film and digital format when appropriate. Central to my work is an appreciation for the outdoors and a love of great natural lighting.
When working with people, my approach is one of casual intention. Whether the client is 8 or 80, I approach it as a partnership; a time to have fun as we capture moments to be treasured for years and generations to come.
With architectural and landscape work, I love the challenge of looking at something seemingly static and bringing it to life. I have had the opportunity to travel around the U.S. and overseas and it is a great joy to share those experiences with others through my fine art portfolio. And when shooting for commercial clients, even the request to photograph legal documents for one and coffee mugs for another became exciting when I found literal ways to make the words jump off the page and pottery.
At heart, I'm a storyteller. My body of work as a documentary producer/director and writer reflects this. My photographic work speaks to this as well. Whether in the newness of an infant's smiles or happening upon the history of a solitary courtyard in Como, Italy, documenting the life of each is a privilege.
Since 1986, I have been proud to work with many private and commercial clients around the world. I look forward to the opportunity of working with you to help tell your own stories.
